Humans are social beings. We like to communicate and create bonds by sharing our ideas and feelings with others. We like having a sense of belonging and security and this is why communities exist.
Here at Future Heroes, the common thread that brings us all together is our motivation to make the world a better place, our grit and will to grow and prosper, and the sisterhood that we all share with each other.
Community means coming together based on shared values, common goals and dreams. This unity creates a circle of trust and connectedness. To truly understand this concept, we decided to ask Big Sisters some questions.
What does sisterhood mean for you?
Beatrice:
For me, sisterhood is more than friendships, but rather an incredible network of girls who share the same passions as you; sisters. Sisterhood is a strong power of togetherness.
Emma:
For me, sisterhood is something that can be defined as a feeling. Perhaps an emotion that brings together safety, warmth and tenacity by knowing that there is a strong community, always having your back.
What is your biggest value?
Beatrice:
My biggest value is decency. If a person cannot handle decency, they cannot do anything else. A person must have the decency to commit to something they signed up for, even though they don't want to do it anymore. A person should have the decency to explore other opinions and accept other people's point of view. A decent person must stay tolerant, but most importantly, true to themselves.
Emma:
My biggest value is empathy. The ability to understand and care for each other leads us to acknowledge other people's needs and differences. That's where the possibility to improve and make changes can truly happen.
